Concrete Special Inspection
Course Description:
This course is designed for working special inspectors with a sound, general knowledge of
concrete construction who wish to gain knowledge of prestressed concrete construction.
The goals of this course are to provide practical knowledge of post-tensioned and prestressed concrete
terminology, procedures and construction and to assist inspectors in preparing for and passing the
ICC Prestressed Concrete Special Inspector exam. Topics will include:

Overview of and principles behind prestressed concrete

Understanding design and shop drawings

Pre-construction considerations and meetings, Seattle DPD forms
-
The inspection process
-
Inspection and testing during post-tensioned concrete placement

The tensioning operation
-
The literature, specifications, and passing the test

Test questions and summaries of listed reference materials
About the Instructor:
Aaron VanderPol is a WABO / OBOA Special Inspector
with 13 years of experience. He is certified in Reinforced Concrete, Pre-Stressed Concrete,
Shotcrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel and Bolting, Structural Welding, Spray Applied
Fire Resistive Materials, Proprietary Anchors; ASNT: Level II Ultrasonic Testing; NICET: Level
III Asphalt, Level III Concrete and OSHA 10.
