  • Attendance of training sessions is required prior to taking the written and practical exams.
  • Students must pass the written exam before taking the practical exam.
  • After successfully passing both the written and practical exams, WAQTC certification numbers will be issued by WSDOT.
  • WAQTC certification is accepted in the following states: AK, CO, HI, ID, NM, OR, TX, UT, and WA

Instructor:  Chris Christensen is a registered professional engineer in Washington, Alaska, Nevada and Utah. He has been a WAQTC examiner for the past 16 years. He has worked on dozens of airport and highway projects during his 28 years of experience in the construction testing and inspection industry.

1 Challenging an exam without completing the classroom instruction is allowed, but is strongly discouraged unless the technician is renewing their certification.
2 Late cancelations (less than 1 week prior to class) will be charged the exam only fee. Class size is limited, register ASAP to guarantee space.
3 Training Cost: There is a 6-student minimum to conduct a training session. If there are less than 6 students enrolled, there will be an option to either pay the difference in cost or to be moved to a future training session (typically the following month).
4 Practical Exam Time Allotment (Hrs): The exam cost is based on the hours outlined above for the time allotted to complete the exam. If a tester requires more time, an invoice will be sent for the difference in time. The rate is $165/hour after exceeding the maximum time allotment.
